Man, child severely injured in Interstate 69 crash

A Central City man and a child were severely injured in a wreck Saturday on Interstate 69 in Hopkins County.

It happened just after 6 p.m. near the 110 mile-marker, according to Kentucky State Police, who say 29-year old Zackary Green of Central City had mechanical issues and he attempted to exit the roadway.

That’s when he was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer operated by 56-year old Martin Chappell of Lebanon, Missouri.

Green was taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville and a two-year old girl in his car was transported to Norton’s Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

Chappell was treated and released from Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville.
