Beshear names two cabinet secretaries, appoints Rocky Adkins as senior adviser

Governor-Elect Andy Beshear began the process of naming cabinet secretaries Monday, and named Rocky Adkins as the senior adviser to his upcoming administration.

The move makes it official that Adkins will not make a run for the United States Senate, the seat which is currently held by Mitch McConnell.  It had been rumored he might run, and square off against Democrat Amy McGrath in the primary election.

According to an article from the Courier Journal, Beshear appointed former Lexington Mayor Jim Gray to serve as secretary of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Beshear also announced that Lt. Governor-elect Jacqueline Coleman will serve as both the secretary of the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet and as Lt. Governor.

More appointments are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
