HS Basketball

The Lexington Herald Leader released its preseason Top 25 Boys players list today. Dayvion McKnight of Collins was ranked first, with Marshall County junior Zion Harmon ranked second and Madisonville’s Kenny White is fifth. Jackson Sivills of McCracken County is seventh, with K’Suan Casey of Madisonville 11th, Isaiah Mason of Bowling Green 16th, Dre Boyd of Warren Central is 18th.

The Herald Leader also unveiled its Top 25 Girls teams and players. Ryle is the number one ranked team with defending 2nd region champion Henderson County 23rd and Webster County ranked 24th.

Maddie Scherr of Ryle is the top Girls player with Charlee Settle of Calloway County ranked 11th and Halle Langhi of Marshall County ranked 25th.

The new season begins Monday night with University Heights boys travelling to Murray, with the First Financial Bank pregame show at 7:15 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP and whopam.com.

NFL

The Tennessee Titans will be without tight end Delanie Walker for the remainder of the season after he was placed on injured reserve. Walker, who struggled this season with the ankle he had surgery on last year, ended up playing in seven games. He finishes this season with 21 catches for 215 yards and two touchdowns. Walker was inactive the last four games. The Titans play at the Indianapolis Colts Sunday.

Golf

Jason Day has withdrawn from the upcoming Presidents Cup in Austrailia because of a back injury. International team captain Ernie Els replaced him with Byeong Hun An of South Korea two weeks before play begins.

Day, who has battled back problems in his career, says he was practicing in California when the injury occurred. An gives the International team a record-tying seven rookies as it tries to beat the U.S. for the first time since 1998.
