Second ranked Louisville solidified its claim to be the new number one team next week downing Western Kentucky 71-54 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena Friday afternoon. The Cardinals got 25 points from Jordan Nwora and 15 from Dwayne Sutton in the win to improve to 7-0. Louisville is back in action Tuesday night in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge hosting Michigan. WKU got 16 points from Tavieon Hollingsworth and 14 points from Charles Bassey in defeat. The 6-2 Hilltoppers return to action Tuesday night at Wright State.
17th ranked Tennessee lost for the first time Friday 60-57 to Florida State in the Emerald Coast Classic. The Vols got 20 points from Lamonte Turner in falling to 5-1. Tennessee faces VCU this afternoon.
In other action at the Emerald Coast Classic, former Christian County standout De’Torrion Ware had 14 points and seven rebounds in 27 minutes as Jacksonville State downed Chicago State 71-62. The Gamecocks improved to 2-3 in getting coach Ray Harper his 500th career victory. Jacksonville State meets Chattanooga in play today.
Women’s results from Friday: Western Kentucky downed Tulsa 76-63 at the Saint Mary’s Thanksgiving Classic and play host Saint Mary’s today.
8th ranked Louisville downed Oklahoma State 69-48 at the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands. The 7-0 Cardinals meet top ranked Oregon today.
Vanderbilt fell to Seton Hall 69-65 at the Junkaroo Jam in the Bahamas. The Commodores meet Tennessee Tech next Thursday.

A couple of Senior Days on the Southeastern Conference schedule today have Kentucky hosting Louisville in the Governor’s Cup game at Kroger Field. Both teams are bowl eligible coming into the game which begins with pregame coverage at 9 am on Lite Rock 98.7 and lite987whop.com.
Tennessee holds Senior Day festivities this afternoon as they host Vanderbilt in Knoxville. The Commodores seek their consecutive win over the Volunteers.

Austin Peay hosts its first ever FCS playoff game in hosting Furman at Fortera Stadium this afternoon with kickoff at noon. Southeast Missouri of the Ohio Valley Conference is also in action today playing a first round FCS playoff game at Illinois State.

The Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts meet tomorrow afternoon at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Both teams are 6-5 with the Titans seeking to avenge a 19-17 loss to the Colts in Week Two in Nashville.

Pekka Rinne made 31 saves for his third shutout of the season and number 58 for his career as the Nashville Predators blanked the Carolina Hurricanes 3-0 last night. Rocco Grimaldi, Calle Jarnkrok and Austin Watson scored for the Predators, who broke a two game losing streak. Nashville is back in action tonight at the Florida Panthers.

Rookie Ja Morant had 11 points, four assists and three rebounds in 31 minutes as Memphis fell to the Utah Jazz 103-94 at Fed Ex Forum last night. The Grizzlies-now 5-13 on the season- play at the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.
