Black Friday busy, but calm in Hopkinsville

All was calm in Hopkinsville for Black Friday, though some places saw a large influx of people looking to take advantage of sales and deals.

The Hopkinsville Walmart on Clinic Drive actually opened for Black Friday business Thursday afternoon, as did several other local businesses.  David Hernandez was ringing the bell for the Salvation Army outside of Walmart Friday morning, and says that while he was there the turnout seemed light, but most people seemed to have gone early that morning or last night.

He says you’ll see bell-ringers out in force over the next few weeks, and every year he’s amazed by the generosity of the community.

For the most part, businesses in Hopkinsville stayed busy. There were no reports of any altercations in Hopkinsville during the shopping craze.  Many places have deals that will continue through the weekend, including Small Business Saturday downtown, and even more deals will be available on Cyber Monday, for those looking to stay in and do some shopping.
