Deputy constables no longer allowed to use blue lights in Christian County

Deputy constables in Christian County will no longer be allowed to have blue lights on their vehicles following approval of a resolution by Christian Fiscal Court Tuesday morning.

County Attorney John Soyars says that was the Law Enforcement Committee’s recommendation.

Judge-Executive Steve Tribble says the eight elected constables in Christian County can still use blue lights if they meet all of the requirements established by the county, but not their un-elected deputies.

Christian County Animal Shelter Director Irene Grace gave her monthly report and says a record 447 cats and dogs found homes through that facility in October.

In other action, magistrates approved a uniform incentive package for the new Jennie Stuart facility at Fort Campbell Boulevard and Eagle Way Bypass. The partners in the project will have 90 percent of newly created property tax revenue rebated to them over the next 15 years to offset construction costs.

A bid of $64,621 from CBF Contracting was approved for renovation of offices at the Alhambra Theatre, with the county, City of Hopkinsville and Pennyroyal Arts Council to split the costs.
