Republican U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Bowling Green believes President Trump acted within his power when he asked the Ukranian president to investigate the Biden family and says he wants to see the President remove tariffs on agricultural products sooner rather than later.
In an interview with WHOP News, Senator Paul asserts the impeachment hearings have been entirely partisan and he believes the President did nothing wrong in his dealings with Ukraine.
Regarding tariffs, Senator Paul says he recently had lunch with President Trump and made it clear he wants to see a deal with China ending tariffs on Ag. products instead of new subsidies to offset losses incurred by farmers due to the trade war.
Just over 170 workers in Hopkinsville lost their jobs two weeks ago when Ebonite was purchased by Brunswick, which moved production of bowling balls to its plant in Mexico. Senator Paul believes new tariffs are not the answer for punishing companies like Brunswick and he favors measures such as cutting corporate taxes and reducing regulation for industries operating inside the United States.
