Unemployment was up from September to October in Christian, Todd and Trigg counties.

Christian County’s October jobless rate was 5.9 percent, up from 5.2 percent in September and up from 4.7 percent in October of last year. It equated to 1,511 individuals who were looking for work and unable to find it.

For the first time in recent memory, Todd County did not have the lowest unemployment rate in the Pennyrile region at 4.2 percent, up from 3.3 percent in September and ahead of the 3.5 percent a year ago.

It’s likely the strike by General Motors workers had an impact on local numbers, as several factories had temporary layoffs until a new labor deal was reached.
