Rep. Prunty files for re-election

Fifteenth District state Representative Melinda Prunty of Greenville has filed for re-election.

The Republican filed her papers Wednesday at the Kentucky Secretary of State’s Office as she seeks a third term in Frankfort. She defeated longtime Representative Brent Yonts in 2016 and then won a rematch against the Democrat in 2018.

Representative Prunty is quoted in a news release as saying, “I’m proud to have played a role in reinvigorating our economy, advocating for our veterans, and making Kentucky the most pro-life state in the nation. But despite all of this success, there’s still much work left to be done and that’s why I’m running for re-election.”

Before retiring in 2016, Prunty served as the director of the office for youth ministry in the Diocese of Owensboro for nearly 20 years.

The 15th District includes all of Muhlenberg and southeastern Hopkins County.
