Fire caused heavy damage to a home on Rosetown Road in Pembroke early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters arrived at 355 Rosetown a few minutes before 2 a.m. and found flames coming from the roof, according to Pembroke Fire Chief Nick Belair, who says the residents had already gotten out safely.

The homeowners said it appeared the fire began in the chimney and quickly spread into the attic.

Chief Belair says there was heavy fire and smoke damage throughout the structure and the American Red Cross was called to assist the residents.

Firefighters from Fairview and Honey Grove were called in for mutual aid and the Christian County Sheriff’s Department also assisted at the scene.
