The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville got a visit from U.S. Census Bureau Partnership Specialist Kisha Mische at Tuesday’s meeting, as she and the Christian County Complete Count Committee prepare the community for the upcoming 2020 Census.
Mische says participating in the census is of a vital importance, to make sure that every person no matter age, economic status or profession is accounted for accurately, as the numbers affects communities in a multitude of ways.
Mische says the bureau is currently in full recruitment mode and are looking to employ as many as 500 people locally, and that will continue until ‘group counts’ begin in February.
She says if you have a home address with a mail box, you’ll start getting notices about the census sometime in March, and they’ll include instructions on how to participate online.
Data collected by the census is completely confidential and is used only for statistics. To apply to a census position, go online to 2020census.gov. and the census is set to take place in April of 2020.
