Deadline to enter float in Christmas parade extended

The Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department is pushing back the deadline to enter a float in the Christmas parade, so there’s still time to register.

According to a news release, the deadline to enter a float or unit in the 2019 Christmas Parade has been extended to noon, Wednesday, November 27. Entry forms may be picked up at the Parks and Recreation office on Thomas Street or online at hoptownrec.com.

The theme will be “What Christmas Teaches Us” and the parade is set for Saturday, December 14.  Groups and organizations entering the Parade can get creative with their floats, using their interpretation to decorate. This year’s float competition also includes a Golf Cart Division, which is open to the public. Cash prizes will be awarded for the HES-Energy Net Hopkinsville Christmas Parade Grand Champion Float, Runner-Up, Christian County Chamber of Commerce Best Business and the People’s Choice Award.

Hopkinsville Community College President and CEO Dr. Alissa Young will serve as the grand marshal.  For more information, please call 270- 887-4290.
