Superior Graphite cuts the ribbon on Special Carbon Plant

Superior Graphite welcomed community members and leaders, employees and more to a ribbon cutting for their newest expansion at the facility—the Specialty Carbon Plant—Wednesday morning.

The company broke ground on the expansion in 2017 and officials say although the construction project had its own complications, they are happy to finally be done.  Superior Graphite President and CEO Ed Carney says this facility will allow them to serve their customers and he listed some of the struggles they had to overcome.

Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks says the investment is a good one not just for the company, but for the community as a whole.

Thomas Coyle with Superior Graphite says this new facility will focus on safety, being involved in the community and excellent customer service.

Tours were given of the new Specialty Carbon Plant and it will be used for high-temperature purification of specialty carbon and graphites while utilizing green, renewable energy.
