November is Diabetes Awareness Month, CCHD offering classes

November is Diabetes Awareness Month and the Christian County Health Department is encouraging people to do some research and get tested to see if they have the disease.

Amanda Sweeney with the department says that a significant portion of Christian County residents have diabetes and that many people may not know they have it.

She says the health department will be hosting diabetes workshops on November 19 and November 26 discussing how to live with the disease and manage it.

Sweeney says diabetes that goes unmonitored can really impact a person’s health.

The department says people should know their ‘diabetes ABCs—A1C, blood pressure and cholesterol—and anyone looking to make an appointment or for more information can call them at 270-887-4160.
