Roads remain slick in hazardous in many places across western Kentucky after one to two inches of snow fell across the region Monday night.
There have been numerous accidents on area roads, many with vehicles simply sliding off the pavement.
Temperatures are not forecast to get above freezing today, but Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says abundant sunshine is assisting some of the efforts made by city, county and state road crews to improve driving conditions.
Graham says anything that does melt will likely refreeze when the sun sets.
Tuesday morning’s low temperature is expected to fall into the lower teens, with wind chills in single digits and Graham says it will be important to be sure outdoor pets have shelter from the cold and an unfrozen source of water.
Nearly all public schools were closed in western Kentucky Tuesday, in addition to some government offices and buildings.
