Christian Fiscal Court approved a tax incentive package for a local business that recently relocated downtown.
Magistrates unanimously approved the resolution for Michael Venable, with Squire Darrell Gustafson saying Venable recently opened his insurance office downtown and the incentive package is the same as other businesses have received for investing in the downtown area.
Meanwhile, a $26,500 change order was approved for the jail master control system upgrade project, which has been ongoing since a lightning strike in 2015. Jailer Brad Boyd says the extra money was needed to complete the intercom system, which is vital to the operation of the jail.
He says the jail is able to use commissary funds to pay the bill for the intercom upgrade.
Christian County Water District Board Chair Ash Brunson read a proclamation at the beginning of the meeting honoring the late John Kirkham, who served as the board’s attorney for 52 years.
