HPD: Man shot tires out on parked car, drove drunk and nearly hit police cruiser

A man who allegedly shot the tires out on a car and then nearly struck a police cruiser with his vehicle was arrested on multiple charges Wednesday night.

An arrest citation for 36-year old Christopher Brocato of Hopkinsville says he was observed just before 11 p.m. driving north in the southbound lane on Walnut Street and that he almost hit a police cruiser head-on.

Police say there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from Brocato’s vehicle and he failed field sobriety tests. He allegedly made multiple threats to the arresting officer and the officer’s family during the investigation and police also determined he had used a rifle to shoot out the tires of a parked car in the lot of the building on Fort Campbell Boulevard where Buffalo Wild Wings and Little Caesars is located.

Brocato is charged with aggravated DUI, criminal mischief, reckless driving, terroristic threatening and intimidating a participant in the legal process.
