The Christian County Public School System received a clean audit for fiscal year 2018-19 at Thursday’s school board meeting.
Anna Gentry of Duiguid, Gentry and Associates presented the report to the board, saying that the independent auditors gave the district an unmodified and ‘clean’ opinion, which is the type of an opinion someone would want.
She commended the finance department staff for their record keeping and says the school system did keep within their approved budget for the fiscal year. Gentry says the district ended the year with a bonded debt of $66 million.
The board heard an instructional update about the Striving Readers program, which focuses on childhood literacy, especially on children between the ages of birth to five years old to prepare them for success. The program will be recognized nationally with a spotlight on their continued improvement later this month, where officials will present to congressional members in Washington D.C.
