One arrested in hit and run collision

A person was hurt and a woman was arrested following a hit and run collision on Means Avenue Friday night.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to Means Avenue around 7 p.m. for reports of a two-vehicle collision.  Investigation determined that a vehicle driven by 52-year old Dorothy Lovelace of Hopkinsville had just begun travelling on Means when her vehicle was sideswiped by another vehicle heading the same direction.

That vehicle was driven by 37-year old Sheila Evans of Hopkinsville, who reportedly left the scene to go to her house.  Evans reportedly told officers she left due to people at the wreck scene being hostile and because she knew she didn’t have insurance.

A passenger in Lovelace’s vehicle, 23-year old Kristin Strickland, was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for complaints of back pain.

Evans was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid and failure to maintain insurance.
