Public library offering new genealogy research tool

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is rolling out a new genealogy research tool to help library goers look back into their family history.

According to a news release, the Gen-To-Go tool is a packet of information that provides step-by-step guidance for anyone that has an interest in genealogy research.  This easy-to-use kit has been created by HCCPL Genealogy Librarian Becky Quinten. The McCarroll Collection is comprehensive and includes 28 states in print as well as online and microfilm resources that is a valuable tool for family history research.

The library also offers Ancestory.com access, a large collection of newspapers, census records, high school yearbooks, birth and death certificates, and other historical reference materials.

Quinten says, “While we are always here to assist with your journey, this tool kit will help you with your genealogy quest while working at your own pace.”  The Gen-to-Go tool book is free and includes tips for research, online resources compatible with the collection, a description of the McCarroll Collection, and charts to record research.
