The Washington Nationals scored all their runs in their last three at bats in winning their first World Series title by a 6-2 score over the Houston Astros last night at Minute Maid Park.
Anthony Rendon and Howie Kendrick both homered in a three-run seventh inning to erase a 2-0 deficit for Washington. Juan Soto added an RBI single in the eighth and Adam Eaton singled in two more in the ninth for the Nats.
Patrick Corbin threw three shutout innings to get the win in relief. Will Harris took the loss. The road team won all seven games.
Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg was named the World Series Most Valuable Player. Strasburg threw six innings of two-run ball in a Game Two win and eight-and-a-third frames of two-run ball to win Game Six. He’s the first pitcher to win World Series MVP since San Francisco’s Madison Bumgarner in 2014.
