Christian Fiscal Court approves road aid resolution, county unlikely to qualify for disaster declaration

Christian Fiscal Court approved a resolution regarding discretionary road aid funds at a special-called meeting Monday morning and Judge-Executive Steve Tribble says it’s unlikely the county will qualify for any type of disaster declaration from Saturday’s severe weather.

Magistrates unanimously approved the resolution to direct about $555,000 in discretionary funds awarded by the state to four county roads. Judge-Executive Steve Tribble says he can now sign off on the documents and send them back to Frankfort for Transportation Cabinet Secretary Greg Thomas to sign.

Interviewed after the meeting, Judge Tribble said it’s unlikely the county will qualify for any type of state disaster declaration related to Saturday’s severe storm.

He says the Christian County Road Department has been busy clearing trees and debris since Saturday afternoon.

Judge Tribble hopes the resurfacing on the four county roads can happen this fall before the weather turns bad.
