Two men were arrested on drug trafficking charges following an investigation Thursday night on Vine Street.

Officers were looking for a wanted person and knocked on the door to a home, where 38-year old Jeffery Taylor of Hopkinsville came to the door. The wanted person was not there, but an arrest citation says there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside and that 27-year old Stephen Taylor of Hopkinsville could be seen inside attempting to hide evidence under the trash bag in the trash can.

A search warrant was obtained and police say they found a baggie containing six ounces of crack cocaine in the trash can. A digital scale was found on the floor, in addition to a backpack containing plastic baggies and another scale.

The report says marijuana was found under Jeffery Taylor’s mattress and a handgun loaded with hollow point ammunition was also located in the home.

Stephen Taylor was charged with trafficking in cocaine, tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Jeffery Taylor was charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, use of restricted ammunition during commission of a felony and possession of drug paraphernalia.
