New ambassador moves into Challenge House #5

Challenge House #5 has opened its doors to a new ambassador—Joyce Barrier of New Jersey, now happily of Hopkinsville, has stepped into the role and is eager to begin.

Barrier says she had felt guided to be involved with a ministry that deal with the inner-city that she could have in her own home and that was only through a comment on Facebook that she even learned about Challenge House 10 weeks ago.  She’s now been in the Challenge House on Crockett Street for 10 days—along with her cat—and she says she’s very impressed with the dedication of those involved in the program.

She says she’s met many of her neighbors, who have been welcoming and eager to pray with her.  Barrier says she intends to have after school tutoring, bible studies and a cottage industry involving crafting—but most importantly, she intends to have plenty of fun and games for kids.

Challenge House #5 has a close partnership with First Christian Church, which helps with things like funding, tutoring and more.  Neighborhood Ambassadors live in the Challenge Houses—which are outreach homes located across the city—and help with multiple programs within the neighborhoods. There are seven Challenge Houses within the community.
