Bond reduced for alleged shooter in Allensville murder

Bond was reduced Wednesday morning in Todd Circuit Court for the man accused of shooting Jerry Robertson to death in September of 2018 on Stateline Road near Allensville.

Nate Beard represents Daniel Westbrook and made the bond motion, saying his prior criminal history doesn’t include anything violent in nature.

Judge Jill Clark granted the motion, reducing bond to 10 percent of $40,000 cash, meaning Westbrook can be released under several conditions by posting $4,000.

Co-defendants Douglas Cropper, Timmie Latham, Faith Martin and Brandi Scruggs also appeared in Todd Circuit Court, with another pre-trial conference scheduled for all of them on Friday, October 25 at 3 p.m. There was some discussion at least some of the cases could be close to being resolved on that date and attorneys were encouraged to arrive early for additional discussion.

Westbrook allegedly shot Robertson three times after Scruggs drove the victim in a car to an area just north of KY 848 on Stateline Road. A pickup occupied by Westbrook and the three other suspects passed the car and then stopped in their path of travel, according to the original Kentucky State Police warrant, which says all five suspects fled in the pickup after Westbrook fired the weapon that Cropper provided to him.

Westbrook is charged with murder, while the other four are charged with complicity to murder and additional related counts.

Trial is scheduled for November 18.
