Greenville Road murder suspect appears in court

The woman accused in the June shooting death of Amareya’ Freeman appeared in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning and now has a copy of all the evidence in the case.

Anshanique Leavell appeared with defense attorney Michael Thompson, who requested that his client receive copies of all the evidence levied against her so she can be ready to defend her case.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling says he doesn’t oppose her having her own copy, but he is concerned about information about witnesses getting out into the public and putting them in danger.

Judge John Atkins ruled that Leavell can have a copy, but she is not allowed to share that information with anyone outside of the case.  Another pretrial conference was set for December 4 at 8:30 a.m.

Leavell is accused of shooting Freeman in the chest at the Greenville Road apartments on June 6 and is charged with murder, receiving stolen property and complicity to tampering with physical evidence.
