Rep. Dossett says rumors of proposed sales tax on electric bills untrue

State Representative Myron Dossett says rumors of a proposal to place a sales tax on residential electric bills are not true.

The Pembroke Republican says he’s heard from numerous constituents concerned after hearing of such a proposal, but he’s making it clear he hasn’t seen any legislation to that effect as a member of the Appropriations and Revenue Committee or otherwise.

He says early work is already beginning on looking at numbers for the biennial budget that must be approved in 2020.

Dossett says expect some work on comprehensive tax reform that could steer Kentucky toward a more consumption-based system.

The 2020 session begins in early January.
