The newly rebranded Human Rights Commission appeared on the WHOP Early Bird Show Friday to talk about their mission and invite the public to the Unity Breakfast later this month.
Rachel Bailey and Molly Lewis with the Humans Right Commission says the annual breakfast is set for October 24 at 7:30 a.m. Lewis says it will be in the James Bruce Convention Center and the keynote speaker this year is Raoul Cunningham, the state President of the NAACP.
Bailey says they’ll be handing out awards, including the Volunteer Award and the Mayor’s Unity Award, along with the prestigious Hal and Bettye Thurmond Award.
She says the Human Rights Commission—formerly the Human Relations Commission—participates in many events in the community, along with working to ensure fair and equal treatment in employment and housing.
Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased in advance by calling the Commission at 270-887-4010. For more information, like the Human Rights Commission of Hopkinsville-Christian County on Facebook.
