Three injured in accident involving vehicle, horse and buggy

Driver fatigue may have been a factor in a wreck involving a vehicle and a horse and buggy Tuesday morning on Pembroke Road.

It happened about 6:45 a.m. near the first industrial park and Christian County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Goulet says Matthew Newton may have fallen asleep behind the wheel before rear-ending the buggy.

Two male occupants of the buggy were taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, one was not hurt and one man was taken by ambulance to Skyline Medical Center with severe leg injuries.

The horse was killed in the collision.

Names of the occupants of the buggy have not been released.
