A firefighter was injured and a dog was killed in a house fire that started just before noon and caused significant damage Thursday in Oak Grove.

Firefighters were called to 819 Stableford Lane and found smoke coming from the home. Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department Chief Bill Johnson says the residents were not home when the fire broke out, firefighters were able to save three dogs and one dog perished.

One firefighter was transported to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and Oak Grove was assisted by firefighters from Pembroke, Herndon and Fort Campbell.
