A Hopkinsville man sought on a warrant is facing new felonies following his arrest Wednesday night.
Police located 44-year old Scotty Highsmith of Hopkinsville in a vehicle at West Seventh Street and South McPherson Avenue and a K9 alerted on the automobile, according to an arrest citation.
A search allegedly revealed methamphetamine inside a bag containing prescription pills that had been prescribed to Highsmith, in addition to syringes.
Police say Highsmith caused a gash to his own head by slamming it against the inside of the police cruiser and threatened to murder officers during a struggle at the hospital.
He was served with the warrant for fraudulent use of a credit card and was additionally charged with retaliation against a participant in a legal process, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
