Western Kentucky Congressman James Comer does not believe President Trump has committed any impeachable offense and is disappointed that House leadership has gone forward with an impeachment inquiry.
The Republican from Monroe County says the inquiry was an over-reaction by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Comer says a review of the whistleblower complaint that was released Wednesday morning didn’t change his opinion in any way.
He says after looking over the complaint and the transcript of the phone call between President Trump and the leader of Ukraine, he’s content the President hasn’t done anything that warrants impeachment.
If the House impeached, Congressman Comer says there’s no way Democrats would get enough votes in the Republican-controlled Senate to convict and remove President Trump from office.
