The theme for this year’s Hopkinsville Christmas Parade has been announced, along with the grand marshal—Hopkinsville Community College President and CEO Dr. Alissa Young.
According to a news release from Parks and Recreation, the theme will be “What Christmas Teaches Us” and the parade is set for Saturday, December 14. Groups and organizations entering the Parade can get creative with their floats, using their interpretation to decorate. This year’s float competition also includes a Golf Cart Division, which is open to the public. Sponsored by Western Hills Golf Course, there will be cash prizes for the first, second-place and third place carts.
Cash prizes will be awarded for the HES-Energy Net Hopkinsville Christmas Parade Grand Champion Float, Runner-Up, Christian County Chamber of Commerce Best Business and the People’s Choice Award. To enter a float, or for more information, contact the Hopkinsville Division of Parks and Recreation at 270-887-4290. Entry forms are available at HoptownRec.com.
Dr. Young says, “It is an honor to serve as the Grand Marshal of the 2019 Hopkinsville Christmas Parade. I can hardly wait to see the beautifully decorated floats and feel the excitement in the air as people fill the streets to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.”
