Unemployment fell in all nine Pennyrile counties from July to August.
Christian County’s jobless rate was 5.7 percent, down from 6.5 percent in July and up from 5.5 percent a year ago. That equated to 1,450 people who were looking for work, but were unable to find it.
Todd County had the Pennyrile region’s lowest unemployment rate at 3.9 percent, down from 4.4 percent in July and up by a tenth of a point from one year ago.
The August jobless rate in Trigg County was 4.2 percent, down from 5.3 percent in July and the same as a year ago.
The state average was 4.3 percent and the national number was 3.8 percent.
