A University Heights Academy senior was named Distinguished Young Woman of Christian County Sunday afternoon.
Rachel Craig was the overall winner and received $1,000 in scholarship money for the top prize. She also received another $1,000 for winning $250 awards in the interview, fitness, talent and self-expression portions of the competition.
The first runner-up with $500 in scholarship money was Allison Sunderhaus—also a senior at UHA—and she received $250 each for honors in the talent, scholastic, fitness and interview portions.
Receiving $250 as second runner-up was Lantana Hight, a student at Christian County High School who also received another $250 in scholarship money in the self-expression category.
The over-achiever award with $250 in scholarship money went to Hopkinsville High School student Madyson Hallmark, the essay winner for $250 was Danea Richards of Hopkinsville High and the Spirit Award was presented to Macey Dukes of Christian County High—who also won $250 in the scholastic competition.
Craig will now represent Christian County at the Distinguished Young Women of Kentucky Scholarship Program in Lexington in January.
