Although the inaugural Hoptown Half-Marathon and 5K takes place September 28, plans are already in place for 2020 thanks to a sponsorship from Clarksville Fleet Feet.
According to a news release, the half-marathon will be part of a three-way race series in 2020 that takes place in Hopkinsville, Murray and Paducah. Next year, runners and walkers will have an opportunity to partake in a trio of 13.1-mile events, including the Hoptown Half, David Taylor Chrysler Murray Half Marathon and the Mercy Health Iron Mom Half Marathon in Paducah — all sponsored by Fleet Feet Clarksville.
Hopkinsville and Murray have already teamed up for a double dare challenge this year during the first race and at this time, no dates have been announced for next year’s triple challenge. Combined with the 5K, the two races have approximately 500 runners and walkers already signed up for this year.
The 2019 Hoptown Half & 5K festivities will kick off with a race expo, open to the general public on September 27 at the Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville. Race Day begins with late registration and packet pick-up at 6:00 a.m. that Saturday morning, in front of the Christian County Justice Center at 100 Justice Way in Hopkinsville. The race will finish downtown, where the Harvest Festival, Chili Cook-off and other events will be under way.
