Six charged with murder in Clarksville July shooting

 

 

 

 

 

 

Six Clarksville men have been indicted and charged with murder in relation to the shooting death of a man and the attempted murder of another man in July.

According to a news release from the Clarksville Police Department, the four men are charged in the shooting death of 32-year old Joshua Ellis and the attempted murder of another 29-year old male victim.  Officers responded to reports of shots fired in July and found Ellis on the ground with a gunshot wound.  He was taken to a Nashville hospital, where he died from his injuries.  The same night, officers responded to the area of Summit Heights to find a second victim with multiple gunshot wounds.  He has since been treated and released from the hospital.

Indicted by a grand jury for first-degree murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, weapon possession in commission of a felony and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon are Jaquan Dawes, 19-year Lewis Timmons, 25-year old Kaleb Wilson, 21-year old Kamren Bennett, 21-year old Dorris Acree and Anthony Spencer.  All five are of Clarksville. Timmons is additionally charged with evading arrest, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Police says the victims and the suspects knew each other in some capacity and further arrests are pending in the case.
