Fifteen people have been chosen to serve as City Diplomats in a new educational program hosted by the City of Hopkinsville to teach citizens about what goes into running local government.
According to a news release, the city received 46 applications to fill fifteen slots in the inaugural program, which will provide participants the opportunity to learn how to make municipal government work for them, gain knowledge of local municipal government and have the opportunity to support their community.
The first fifteen applicants were selected to participate while the remaining applicants were placed on a waiting list for future sessions. Sessions will take place at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month until March—for more information on location and topic, contact the city.
Mayor Carter Hendricks says, “We are very excited to work with the inaugural class of the City Diplomats. We are thrilled that so many individuals applied to learn more about their city in an effort to help improve the community. We are confident that the participants will enjoy their experience while learning about city government and community living.”
The inaugural participants include Tiffany Mumford Brame, Dustin Huber, Christina Jones-Meacham, Billie Lopez, Dawn Meacham, Tony Meacham, Amy Montgomery, Faye Oglesby, Esherica Price, Amy Rains, Jenny Roberts, DeeAnna Sova, Shannon Worden, Mark A. Young and Luanne Zieman.
