The Christian County Adult Drug Court program is bidding farewell to longtime Program Supervisor Mike Walker, who is retiring at the end of September.

Walker has been the supervisor of the program that tries to help those battling with addiction in the community for 16 years, but he says the time felt right for him to step down, as he’ll be turning 62 at the end of the month.  He says a lot has changed in those 16 years.

He says it’s been an honor to help people fight off addiction and get back to their lives, with both good and sad stories along the way.

Walker says his final advice for future drug court participants is to listen to what the staff are telling you, because they’re really trying their hardest to help you.

Walker says he fully supports Elizabeth Holland, who he hopes takes over the program after he leaves and has worked hard for drug court. He says, as of right now, he has no specific plans for the future besides watching basketball and being with family and friends.
