State Democrats make stop in Hopkinsville

Three Democrats who will be on the statewide ballot in November made a stop at Peace Park in Hopkinsville Saturday afternoon on the campaign trail.

Attorney General Andy Beshear, who is looking to unseat Governor Matt Bevin, emphasized improving access to healthcare and ending what he calls Bevin’s ‘war on education.’

He noted lawsuits won against pharmaceutical companies during his term as Attorney General and vowed to win the war against the ongoing crisis in Kentucky.

Beshear says he’d see the Interstate 69 bridge over the Ohio River into western Kentucky built in his first term.

Former Attorney General Greg Stumbo is looking to regain that seat and says he’d try to bring back the Kentucky Bureau of Investigation to help solve ongoing cases and to take drug and sex offenders off the streets.

Stumbo doesn’t believe his Republican opponent, Daniel Cameron, has the experience it takes to fill the AG role.

Robert Conway is challenging Republican Commissioner of Agriculture Ryan Quarles and says he’d push for legalization of medical marijuana.

Conway said he’s the only candidate running who is a farmer, stressed that he’d find ways to help Kentuckians keep family farms and emphasized getting more young people involved in agriculture.
