Todd Co. SRO receives statewide deputy of the year award

Todd County Sheriff’s Deputy Tracey Mayberry was named one of two deputies of the year at the annual Kentucky Sheriff’s Association Banquet Thursday night.

Carl Yates of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office presented the award to Deputy Mayberry, who serves as school resource officer in Todd County, noting that she goes above and beyond the call of duty for the students.

Sheriff Tracy White and Todd County School System Superintendent Ed Oyler nominated Mayberry—noting that she has also created an art club and wellness program.

Deputy Mayberry is Todd County’s first school resource officer and the first female deputy hired by the sheriff’s office. She came to Todd County after retiring as a Hopkinsville Police Department sergeant.

Todd County deputies B.J. Grayson and David Hutcheson received Medal of Valor awards for an incident in February when they were able to safely deescalate a situation with an armed man having a mental health episode and he received the help he needed.
