Boys and Girls Club to break ground on cafeteria, kitchen next week

The Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville will soon have a ground breaking, as they are set to begin construction on their new cafeteria and kitchen expansion.

The official groundbreaking will take place September 18 at 5:15 p.m. and the public is invited to attend, according to a news release.  The event will provide an opportunity for community members to celebrate the addition, as well as see the proposed plans for the project, which they hope to have completed in the spring of 2020.

The 2100square foot addition will have two main areas—a kitchen for the preparation and serving of meals and a cafeteria that can seat 75 students at a time to eat.  The new kitchen will also allow the Boys and Girls Club to conduct healthy lifestyles programs like culinary arts and gardening and provide additional program space.

Executive Director Terrence Davis says, “We are very excited to break ground on this new addition, which will enable us to serve more kids while increasing the amount of meals we provide the youth of our community.”
