A large contingent of students from Sinking Fork Elementary School was at Jeffers Bend Environmental Center Friday morning to help proclaim next week as Naturefest week.
Magistrate Mark Cansler read a proclamation signed by Christian County Judge-Executive Steve Tribble and Mayor Carter Hendricks.
Charles Turner of the Jeffers Bend Steering Committee said representatives of various agencies and aspects of Jeffers Bend were on hand to help educate the students about nature.
While events like Naturefest, Christmas at the Bend and Take Kids Fishing draw large crowds—Turner notes children come to Jeffers Bend several times a year on field trips.
Naturefest will be from 1 until 5 p.m. Saturday, September 21 and will feature several activities for children and adults. Admission will be $10 per car, $15 for a bus load of up to 25 people and $30 for a bus of 26 or more people.
Local residents are encouraged to check out Jeffers Bend and all of its offerings during Naturefest week.
