Veterans of Foreign War Post 1913 in Hopkinsville hosted its annual remembrance service in memory of 9/11, which happened 18 years ago and would change the nation forever.
VFW Commander John Brame says nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attack on the World Trade Center and other locations, including the hundreds of first responders who ran into certain danger to save lives that day, and they must never be forgotten.
He says that history must never repeat itself, and services like this help keep the victims alive in our memories, so the VFW will continue to host this program.
TAPS was played and balloons were released in memory of those who were lost that day. Memorial services were held across the nation Wednesday, as people recalled where they were September 11, 2001 when the attacks happened and everything that would follow after.
