Christian Fiscal Court keeps tax rate the same, passes resolutions

Christian Fiscal Court approved final reading of an ordinance Tuesday morning keeping the property tax rate the same and approved several resolutions.

Treasurer Walter Cummings says keeping the rate at 18.7 cents per $100 of assessed value will bring in sufficient revenue to meet all of the obligations in the county’s budget.

Meanwhile, a resolution recognizing 911 dispatchers locally as first responders was approved unanimously, with Magistrate Phillip Peterson noting that police and EMS can’t respond without the work of dispatchers.

Another resolution offering incentives to qualifying downtown improvement projects in Hopkinsville was approved and Magistrate Darrell Gustafson says the county will offer the same tax incentive package as the City of Hopkinsville while using the same application process.

Magistrates unanimously approved resolutions accepting Pleasant View Acres Drive and North Ridge Drive into the county road maintenance plan.
