One of the juvenile defendants involved in the attempted robbery and murder case that occurred on Bethel Street in January entered a guilty plea in Christian Circuit Court Tuesday.
Madison Wilson, who was a juvenile when the crime occurred and is charged as a youthful offender, entered a guilty plea. The plea deal amends the complicity to robbery charge she was facing down to facilitation to robbery—it comes with a recommended five year sentence and the Commonwealth is opposed to probation. Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling says the agreement is based on Wilson’s involvement in the crime.
She must also testify against her co-defendants in the upcoming jury trial set for January. Tia Ochs, one of the other juveniles involved in the case, also recently pled guilty to facilitation to robbery for her role. Her deal comes with a recommended five year sentence and she must also testify in trial, according to Boling.
Both Wilson and Ochs went into the residence on Bethel Street before the attempted robbery occurred and communicated to the others about what items and money were in the residence. Trial is still set for the other co-defendants—Shakkory Willis, Korey Zivotin, James Yates and Lane Carter.
Willis is charged with murder in the shooting death of Corvyan Thomas, along with first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. Yates and Carter are both charged with complicity to robbery and burglary and unlawful transaction with a minor. Zivotin is charged with first-degree assault, having allegedly shot Dylan Stewart in the leg during incident, and first-degree robbery.
Final sentencing is set for September 17 for Ochs and for October 1 for Wilson.
