The sounds of drums will soon fill the air as the Native American Pow Wow returns to the Trail of Tears Commemorative Park on East Ninth Street in Hopkinsville.
This year’s Pow Wow is set for September 7 and 8 and organizer Mark Wells says there will be two grand entries on Saturday—with the first at 10 a.m.—and another at 1 p.m. Sunday, before the Pow Wow wraps up Sunday evening.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and kids 6 years old and younger get in free.
Wells says the Trail of Tears Pow Wow is about more than dancing and fun—it’s also way for people to remember the history and heritage of the Native American people.
The event will be host to a slew of activities, including axe throwing, games, food vendors and craft vendors. Gates open both days at 10 a.m. For more information about the event, like the Trail of Tears Pow Wow on Facebook.
