Ky. Supreme Court Justice speaks on U. S. Constitution in Hopkinsville

Hopkinsville got a visit from Kentucky Supreme Court Chief Justice John Minton Thursday morning to celebrate Constitution Day, which is in September.

Chief Justice Minton gave a speech to an audience at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Library, detailing interesting facts about the creation of the United States Constitution in 1787 and through when it came into effect in 1789.  He says after years of changing locations, include a brief period in time where no one really knew where it was, the Constitution is now protected at the National Archives—but it’s in fact the American spirit that protects it the most.

Chief Justice Minton says that the founding fathers all recognized that the individual must set aside their personal interests to create a more perfect union.

He encouraged all to continue their pursuits of happiness and be the best citizen they can be—and that will carry on the true legacy of the United States.

Constitution Day is celebrated on September 17 across the nation, as that is the day it was officially created 232 years ago.  Since then, it has undergone numerous amendments, discussion and gained a Bill of Rights, all in the name in developing a nation for an ever changing people.
