Details have been released on a pursuit that began in Greenville and ended with a wreck in Elkton Tuesday afternoon.

Greenville police say officers received a report of a vehicle stolen on KY 171 at about 1:40 p.m. and attempted to make a traffic stop on the pickup driven by 32-year old Ashley Guenther of Richmond, Indiana.

She allegedly failed to stop and continued south on KY 181 into Todd County, striking a guard rail near Clifty and tossing items out of the vehicle along the way.

Spike strips were used by KSP and the Logan County Sheriff’s Department on KY 181 near US 68, but Guenther kept driving onto the Elkton Public Square and then headed east until she turned left onto US 68. Spike strips were deployed again and the pursuit ended when she crashed into a flatbed trailer at the intersection with KY 181.

Guenther was flown by Air Evac to a Nashville hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Felony charges of theft and fleeing or evading police are pending against Guenther.

The Todd and Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Departments and Elkton Police also assisted in the pursuit.
