Two arrested on gun, meth trafficking charges in Madisonville

A traffic stop in Madisonville Sunday led to the arrest of two people on drug and gun charges.

An officer stopped a vehicle driven by 22-year old Macey McElfresh of Madisonville for speeding at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday near the Interstate 69-Island Ford Road interchange and a news release says she appeared to be under the influence of a substance.

A search of the car allegedly revealed a stolen 9mm handgun and marijuana in the console and a large bag of methamphetamine with a street value of $15,000 in the trunk. Police say McElfresh also had a small amount of meth on her person.

McElfresh and her passenger, 26-year old Anthey Jones, Jr. of Madisonville, were arrested and charged with trafficking in meth, receiving a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana.

Jones was additionally charged with possession for a handgun by a convicted felon and McElfresh with DUI and tampering with evidence.
